Longmont Municipal Airport Runway Extension
I am writing you today to ask for your help.  We are starting work on a new FAA Master Plan for our Airport which will include a runway extension.  Our runway is currently 4,800 feet in length and we propose to extend it to 6,200 feet, which is vital for turbine operations as the fiel elevation is 5,052 mean sea level.  The extension is a key component of the new Master Plan.  A runway extension will increase the utility and safety of our Airport which in turn will enable the Airport to make needed improvements in infrastructure and business services.  We would like to make our Airport as business friendly as possible not only for the visiting aviators but for businesses that require access to a full service/general aviation airport.

As you can imagine, resistance from some segments of our community may make this a difficult proposition.  Unfortunately, not everyone in the community realizes the importance of a general aviation/municipal airport for the economic benefit or as an alternative mode of transportation.

At this point in the runway extension process, we could really use some support in the form of a letter from you/your company indicating your use of the Airport (KLMO) and what a runway extension would mean for your flight operations.  Any encouragement you could provide to our Mayor or City Council would be greatly appreciated.  Our thoughts on the runway extension lead us to believe the extension will allow us to sell more fuel, provide better FBO services, upgrade our instrument approaches, provide extra length for safety and operational capacity on high density altitude days and be a larger economic contributor to our community.

Will you please take the time to draft a quick letter in support of our project?  The letter should be sent directlly to our Airport Manager who will ensure our Mayor and City Council members receive them directly.  The contact information for the Airport Manager is listed below.
